This series helps students become aware that Jesus is their Lord and Savior who leads them to the Father through his Spirit. With a focus on Scripture, the content blends core beliefs: creed, sacraments, commandments, and prayer. The program includes many traditional and familiar prayers, as well as Catholic vocabulary, all designed to instill a strong sense of Catholic identity.
The purpose of Christ our life is to proclaim the Lord so that young Christians meeting Jesus will develop a committed relationship with him and the Church. As children begin and continue their journey of faith, Christ Our Life helps catechists and parents teach the children to become more faithful, more responsive, and more involved Catholic Christians.
Finding God: Our response to God's Gifts reflects a vision of our Catholic faith grounded in Scripture and Tradition and an Ignatian recognition of the presence of God in all things. The expression of that vision is based on our Catholic belief that effective catechesis
reflects the love of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit
center on the person of Jesus Christ
proclaims the liberating good news of salvation through Jesus Christ
leads the Christian into the world in mission and action
addresses the needs of the culture in which it is presented
invites relievers to reflect on personal experience in light of growing in relationship with God
leads to full, conscious, active participation in the liturgical life of the Church
creates a climate of prayer and nurtures a faith that is expressed in prayer
The Knowing Our Catholic Faith work texts are not intended to be used as a formal school or parish religious education program. Rather, they provide supplemental material for review, further understanding, and reinforcement of children's learning about the doctrines and traditions of the Catholic Church.
